BIO --- Reidin was born in County Cork, Ireland into a family of three sisters and six brothers, a family of singers, writers, artists, and poets. Encouraged from a very early age, by their mother, singing played an integral part in her life. Her father, Donal, who taught in Galway and Cork sings in the "sean nos" (old tradition). Part of Reidin's eclectic and huge repetoire of songs include some of those lovely old songs and melodies.
Losing her beloved brother Tiger to a tragic accident in September of 2000 inspired Reidin to put words and music together in an original and new voice. "Tiger's Island" is an album full of raw and real emotion, of exotic harmonies, of great lyrics and of exciting and heady music. Reidin lives in the Catskill Mountains and is presently working with her daughter Shireen on their second album.
Shireen, also born in County Cork Ireland, to a family of two brothers, moved to the United States with her family when she was four years old. She grew up in a house full of music, music appreciation and singing. Summers in Ireland reinforced that influence with a voice that lends itself to many styles. She sings traditional to Broadway Musicals with equal ease. Shireen represented New York in the 2002 International Rose of Tralee where she sang Reidin's song "September" to a television audience of over three million people. She lives in Boston and is currently working with Reidin on their second album.
Singing together in exotic harmony, this mother/daughter duo, Shireen and Reidin introduce themselves in Shirae (Shur-ray). With their brilliant producer/musician/arranger, Scott Apicelli, they avoid stylistic categories. The original words and music, by Reidin, are woven into a new and vibrant sound that is exciting. ---

REVIEW --- This mother and daughter team called Shirae has a great harmony as they spin through the songs on their first CD. There are a number of songs on this CD but in particular I liked "River" and "September" and how the songs are arranged. As you listen time and time again you will find a melody link from beginning to the end. Below are a few samples to introduce you to this new Irish Dio. I'm sure you will enjoy them in a live performance but until then be sure to order their CD.

Many musical artists and groups are active in their communities. Some perform before faithful fans on a regular schedule each week or weekend. They are independent musicians as compared to those music industry big names. We often think of the big name groups because we are exposed to the marketing blitz. I have had the opportunity to hear a number of independent performers with Capital Celtic. Some are just starting out and are perhaps a little rough around the edges and some are so outstanding I wonder why they have not entered into the "Big Time" music industry. Perhaps you have experienced the same? Perhaps you know of a new artist or group that you believe has talent that would be enjoyed by others? If so send me a CD and Bio and we will feature them on The Capital Celtic Network. - EEHealy
