Sham Rock are Anne Barrett, John Hamilton and Philip Larsen (2004 Grammy Winner “Best Dance Recording” - mixer).
“Whiskey In The Jar”, “Sham Rock Shake” “Ballymore Boys”, “Carnival” and “Donegan’s Reel” are all popular line dances performed to Sham Rock’s music worldwide.
The single “Tell Me Ma” remained in the UK pop charts for 17 weeks peaking at number 13 selling over 200,000 singles and was included on compilation albums selling over 3 millions units in the United Kingdom/Eire. “Tell Me Ma” has been remixed and the video re-edited for the US market.
Sham Rock’s debut album has crossover appeal, with a mixture of
up-tempo songs & ballads written, adapted and produced by the band reflecting an influence of folk/traditional Irish songs.
As well as winning the Grammy for his mix of “Come Into My World”, Sham Rock’s producer/writer Philip Larsen mixed and programmed “Fragile” on Kylie Minogue’s “Fever” album. He has been an active remixer in recent years, working with artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Brian McKnight and Mary J Blige.

Many musical artists and groups are active in their communities. Some perform before faithful fans on a regular schedule each week or weekend. They are independent musicians as compared to those music industry big names. We often think of the big name groups because we are exposed to the marketing blitz. I have had the opportunity to hear a number of independent performers with Capital Celtic. Some are just starting out and are perhaps a little rough around the edges and some are so outstanding I wonder why they have not entered into the "Big Time" music industry. Perhaps you have experienced the same? Perhaps you know of a new artist or group that you believe has talent that would be enjoyed by others? If so send me a CD and Bio and we will feature them on The Capital Celtic Network. - EEHealy
