SEVEN SONGS!
A new Rising Star in the Capital District since late 1997 is the up and coming group "The Rising Sons." Members are Jim Hood, base player, Sean Cohan, mandolin/fiddle player, and Marc Jones, guitarist.
The Rising Sons is an acoustic trio that can be both surprising and familiar. Their "essential acoustic" repertoire combines popular tunes from rock, country, blues, traditional Irish and bluegrass. The surprise comes from the seamless way these different genres blend together to form a Rising Sons show. Flashy instrumental work and sweet harmonies are their trademarks. The Rising Sons would probably be called a Capital District band, but there is a lot more to this trio. Their arrangement of "Star of The County Down" and "Music For A Found Harmonium" on their new CD is very well done. This CD would be a good addition to you collection.
