BIO:
Ian Gallagher,
originally from Arigna, Co Roscommon, has been entertaining
audiences all over the New York Tri State area for the past 35
years. Through the early 60's he played in a number of part-time
bands in Ireland, until he emigrated to the US in 1963.
His professional career began at the age of 19 when he began
appearing in many of the well-known Irish establishments in the New
York area entertaining audiences with The Kevin Woods Show-band.
Ian is an accomplished guitarist, and diversified Singer. His smooth
voice enthralls entire audiences He plays a wide range of material.
Ian's repertoire ranges from Irish favorites, American Standards and
pop from the 50's to the present and almost anything you can name.
Any performance is sure to take you down the memory lane of your
choice and leave you planning your next reservation for a great
night out! So come and enjoy the music Ian Gallagher.
Today, Ian lives in New Jersey where he performs locally with his
BAND and all over the United States with the Paddy Noonan Band.
Ian Gallagher it is not your typical Irish singer. He is in fact a
sort of crooner, with a clear jazz sensibility. A very fine
voice deeply imbued with his Irish roots. Ian has been
performing traditional Irish songs and American pop tunes for the
past thirty-five years. His lilting, melodious voice lends
itself beautifully not only to the traditional Celtic tunes, but
also to the swing of Jazz standard's.
His Latest CD (My Ireland) has a strong sense of lounge jazz,
bop, and even swing, evident in all of the American song remakes.
Old standards" such as "How Are Things in Glocca Morra" and, "Danny
Boy," and "The Star of the County Down", the soaring violin and
guitar on "The Dear Irish Boy" will make you feel like you are
standing on a green cliff in Ireland overlooking the sea. Kudos to
all the instrumentalists who play so wonderfully on this CD produced
by Ian Gallagher himself.
